MOAPE KONGO

  • Directed & Produced by: Hangui Martial

Logline

A double bass from the colonial heritage in the village of Moapé, in southern Ivory Coast, was the star of traditional-modern music during the independence periods. This double bass is the instrument that brought the Moapé Kongo orchestra to prominence. Today, the orchestra exists in name only, and Tino, a son of the village, has decided to revive it.

Our Ask

I am very happy to share with you my documentary film project, Moapé Kongo, which questions the place of colonial heritage and local African cultural heritage in the collective consciousness.
Your opinions and suggestions will help me to develop my narrative.
As I am currently in the writing stage, I need a grant to help me research archives that will contribute to the film's narrative. I am looking for a potential  co-producer who likes my project and can help me find the necessary funding to tell this story.
