  Sky is the founder and Executive Director of the Video Consortium. Previously, she was an award-winning journalist at NBC News, where she produced documentaries and news segments across digital, broadcast, and streaming verticals. Before that, she was the Senior Producer, Video at The New Yorker, where she created and commissioned the magazine’s first short films, series, and video supplements for print features. Forbes Magazine named Sky a “30 under 30” media entrepreneur and DOC NYC, America’s largest documentary festival, selected her as a Documentary “New Leader.” Her work has been honored by Pictures of the Year International, the Society of Publication Designers, PDN Photo Annual, the Webby Awards, the James Beard Foundation, The New York Press Club, The Newswomen’s Club of New York, many film festivals, and multiple Vimeo Staff Picks. She’s judged and spoken at journalism workshops and documentary festivals around the globe. She graduated cum laude from Northwestern University. Show Less

  Laura is an anthropologist and filmmaker from Arlington, Virginia, currently based in Los Angeles. After 6 years in the non-profit industry working with underserved communities, she took her diverse skillset and passion for visual storytelling in a new direction by producing, directing, shooting, and editing a 29-minute thesis documentary film titled, Bonnie Brae & 6th, Los Angeles. The film combines ethnographic research and non-fiction film methods to intimately portray the complex layers of a Guatemalan street vending community near MacArthur Park. Her ultimate goal as a filmmaker is to take on challenging subject matter with an inclusive and sensitive approach, achieving a deeper impact than conventional documentary's tendency to amplify sensationalized or marketable stories. He started is career in video production as a PA, and he learned how to grip, gaff, and shoot video before transitioning into post-production and motion design.   David Abel is a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter who covers environmental issues for The Boston Globe. Abel’s work has also won an Edward R. Murrow Award, the Ernie Pyle Award from the Scripps Howard Foundation, and the Sigma Delta Chi Award for Feature Reporting. He co-directed and produced “Sacred Cod,” a film about the collapse of the iconic cod fishery in New England, which was broadcast by the Discovery Channel in the spring of 2017. He also directed and produced two films about the Boston Marathon bombings, which were broadcast to national and international audiences, on BBC World News, Discovery Life, and Pivot. His other films include “Lobster War” and “Gladesmen: The Last of the Sawgrass Cowboys.” “Lobster War,” which is being distributed by Gravitas Ventures, won the 2018 award for “Best New England Film” at the Mystic Film Festival and was runner-up for the Grand Prize for Best Feature Film at the 2018 International Maritime Film Festival. “Gladesmen” won the 2018 Made in Miami Award at the Miami Film Festival. Both of those films are also being distributed by Bullfrog Films. Abel, who began learning to make films as a Nieman fellow at Harvard University, most recently directed, produced, and shot his latest feature, "Entangled," which won a Jackson Wild Award, considered the Oscars of nature films.
